1. Prepare for my Transition

Leaving the military is not new and there are plenty of OppOs who have done it already and are busy smashing life as a Veteran. We're not huge fans of the use of the word "transition" and prefer the term "Changing Gear" as we don't see it as the end or a scary chapter - but as something to look forward to and a challenge to accept.

Changing Gear?

  • Identify where your strengths, qualifications & skills will fit best
  • Learn about the sectors that are most attractive & receptive to people with a military background
  • Connect with OppOs working in a sector/organisation you're interested in

How?

  • Listen to our Podcasts to learn from OppOs about certain sectors and organisations.
  • Visit our Employment Partners microsites to discover why it might be a good place to work. Develop your network

3. Looking for a career change

It's rare that we find the forever job straight away and as we and the situation changes, there can come a time when we might want a complete change of tack - but are unsure how. Here are a few ideas that may help;

  • Get the most from the relevant Sector Groups and OppOs in it - many of whom will want to assist
  • Access the Employment Partners microsites and listen to podcasts to gain some insight
  • Look in the Value Vault for upskilling opportunities
  • Introduce yourself to OppOs who currently work in the sector or organisation you're looking at.
  • Register on the Jobs Board and set up your profile and alerts and access our Employability Skills Development Series
